Our lodge is located under the canopy of a riverine forest along the banks of the Marico River – a haven for birds and a wonderful spot from which to observe animals that frequent the surrounding area to drink and graze throughout the day.

We offer a variety of suites to suit every kind of travelling party and their tastes – Starbed Suites, Treehouse Suites, Tented Suites and private-use villas – each of which is unique in its placement, but all of which were built to blend the interior and exterior spaces together seamlessly.

Take the Starbed Suites for instance, where guests can opt to sleep under the stars (weather-permitting) on their very own roofless deck.

The Treehouse Suites are true to their name, and will have you feeling as though you’re sleeping among the branches of the canopy.

All stay options have multiple viewing areas, from private decks to large windows, that make you feel at one with the bush around you.

At Jaci’s Lodges, something as simple as a shower takes on new significance given the beauty of your surroundings! Each of our suites has a unique outdoor shower, built to accommodate nature, instead of the other way around.

We can assure you that there’s nothing so restorative as taking a shower surrounded by the pristine wilderness of Madikwe Game Reserve first thing in the morning – or just before dinner. Of course, you also have the option of an indoor bathroom, complete with a shower and a bathtub, but something tells us you’ll quickly come to love the ritual of stepping outdoors to bathe.

Jaci’s Lodges is fully equipped with every mod-con you could dream of, but we do love lantern light, which is why we’ve dotted paraffin lamps throughout the lodge’s suites and communal areas. The atmosphere they provide when dusk falls is second to none.

The first safaris ever taken were a blend of camping and exploring; everything needed to be packed, including provisions, wash basins, tents and, of course, lamps. By lighting lanterns at night, we hope you’ll be able to tap into the wonderful feeling of camping out; adding an element of adventure and wonder to your getaway.

When out in the bush, it’s the small touches, you may be surprised to discover, that will stand out most of all when you recall your favourite safari moments in years to come – and the romance of a lantern may be one of them!

• Thutlwa Lookout: Think of this deck as your sofa safari destination, where you can unwind throughout the day and keep an eye out for game. This deck is also designed for sundowners and outdoor dining experiences.
